WIFI settings
Go to the settings app on the iPad
Then select the WiFi tab from the left hand side and touch the blue info icon for the wifi network you are connected to. This must be the same network and all the other LinkPOS devices - printers, iPads, card readers, etc.
Private Wi-Fi Address
From the WIFI network details page select the Private Wi-Fi Address.
Turn this setting off. This causes the iPad to get new ip addresses periodically. We want the ip address to stay the same so all the other devices on the network can communicate with it.
It may warn you that turning this feature off may allow devices to track you. This warning is deceiving. Select Allow Tracking so that you will keep the same ip address. You are not allowing tracking, you are just keeping the same ip address so the other LinkPOS devices can connect to you.
Static Wi-Fi Address
You can also set the wifi address to be static so that it never changes. This setting is optional because the WiFi router usually assigns the same ip address to the same device each time it connects to the network. If you choose this option you need to make sure that the ip address you choose has not been assigned to any other device on the network. And if you do this for all of the iPads they each must have a unique ip address.
Select Manual and then set the unique ip address. Use the same first three numbers from your network and then use a unique final number.
For example, my network is 192.168.100 so I would start with those and then choose a unique number between 1 and 255 for the last number.
Set the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0. That means that the first three numbers are the network and the last number varies for each device on the network. Touch Save to save the static ip address.
